Service was excellent and the technician was very fast at repairing the door. However to charge $69 for a service call and then increase the cost of the spring by approximately six times the cost that I could buy the part myself is taking advantage of the situation I believe.

Review:

The technician arrived on time, seemed knowledgeable and completed the repair in a reasonable time. The reason for only 3 stars is two-fold. First, we felt the price charged seemed excessive, especially in light of the 'hard sell' from the tech. He indicated strongly that if this and that wasn't changed, as well, it could fail soon, and then repairs would cost more. Second, and the main reason for only 3 stars was the fact that since the garage door was stuck in the closed position, the tech had to walk through the house. When he did, he tracked red mud from his boots all across a new floor! We spent a long time cleaning up after him. We felt there was no respect at all for a customer's home. That is unacceptable!

Thank you for your response. Im glad our tech was able to repair your door onsite without having to return at a later time. Indeed he is very knowledgeable with overs 15 years training and experience in this industry. The reason for the apparent "hard sell" is that your garage door was very heavy and would not open with the automatic opener due to a broken spring that Geoff was able to detect. You cant see it since its enclosed inside a disposable torsion system. If you continued to operate your garage door under these conditions it poses a very dangerous situation and could ruin your existing door panels, opener, or damage cars or injure anyone in the garage if the door comes off the track. This is not a scare tactic to cause you to buy, this is just a fact, a common problem, that was verified by our inspection that comes with our service call. I checked Geoff's pricing and it is in line with what we charge for this repair. And of course we stand behind it with our warranty. I apologize for tracking mud on your floors. When a door wont open we often have to get into the garage though some other entry door first and it our practice to wipe our feet before entering. Usually we get out of the truck in the driveway and walk down the sidewalk to get into the house so I m not sure where the mud was coming from. But it is wrong to enter your house without our techs first inspecting our feet. If you have a picture of the mud he tracked I would really appreciate getting it and sharing it with Geoff and others to train them and make sure this doesn't happen again. In addition we have begun to supply our technicians with pullover shoe covers in case they need them. I appreciate your input and if you should need service in the future we will waive the next service call. Regards, Rich Battistini

The technician was not able to duplicate the problem (door does not open completely on cold days - below 40 degrees). The door hinges were lubricated. The problem was not resolved. It continued the same as before once it got cold again.

I appreciate the feedback and we are more than happy to come back out and examine the problem further under warranty. Occassionaly we have issues that do not get fixed on the visit especially when the the problem is not occurring or can be duplicated. It can be very difficult to fix something that appears to be working fine when we are there. The good news is that we do warranty our work and and will come back at no charge for the same problem. My job had some unexpected delays but the new Doors are working fine now.

Thanks for the feedback. I apologize there were some unexpected delays causing the entire job to take 2 days to complete. The original technician had an accident that caused him to be unable to complete the job. I had to step in and takeover. The job was complicated by low headroom and I had to return with low head room tracks. That added time and cost to the job but the cost was not passed on to you. Ultimately the job was done right and things are working well. Rich
